Celebrate our FIRST birthday with us and Car Free Day at the Capital Bikeshare Birthday Bash! Below is just a small listing of activities and games being offered on September 22 at the Birthday Bash in The Yards Park. And it's FREE!! First 1,000 attendees get a free Capital Bikeshare Birthday Bash T-Shirt. While we always hope for sunny weather, the event will be rain or shine so don your galoshes and come out for a good time!

Live Music!The Reflex-80s cover band

Dance the night away, well, until 9pm, with The Reflex, the region's ultimate '80s band. The Reflex will be playing all the hits of the 1980s starting at 6pm. Dust off your lace gloves, pull out the Aquanet and come celebrate with Capital Bikeshare and The Reflex. New Belgium Brewing

We're excited to welcome New Belgium Brewing to the party as they celebrate their recent launch into the DC market. New Belgium will offer three types of their delicious craft beers for $5 per pint for guests 21 and over, plus fun and games for all ages.

Bungee Run and Gladiator Joust
Bungee up for a challenging race against a buddy to see who can stretch their limits the furthest, or try the Gladiator Joust and use your skills and cunning to outlast your foe.

Hooping Garden!

Free your inner-child or uncork a hidden talent in the hooping garden. HooperNATURAL™ will be running a Hooping Garden. HooperNatural LogoStop by and try some modern hooping - it's hoola hooping with a large, adult-size hoop. Granetta Coleman, a certified Hooping instructor will be on hand to help you hoop and to show you some cool moves. LET'S PLAY.


Free Whole Foods Water Bottles!

Whole Foods will be joining us at our birthday bash and will hand out water bottles to attendees. Stop by and grab one to keep hydrated on your CaBI trips and be sure to check out the new Whole Foods location in Foggy Bottom, opening in early September. The new store is located just a block from the 21st & I St. NW Capital Bikeshare station. 


Food Trucks!

Red Hook Lobster Pound -A simple menu of lobster rolls and shrimp rolls served Maine style (mayo-based) by default or Connecticut style (butter-drizzled).
Doug the Food Dude -Doug serves fresh, all natural dishes. Signature meals include Caribbean Roasted Pork drizzled with a mango garlic sauce over The Dude’s Cabana Rice, Crispy Baked Fajita Egg Rolls, and Parmesan crusted Salmon over Cabana Rice.
Eat Wonky -Eat Wonky is a poutine specialist. Poutine is a dish that originated in Quebec and consists of french fries topped with cheese curds and gravy. The Wonky Dog is an innovation on the poutine idea where a beef frank is topped with poutine and served on a sub roll.
Rolling Ficelle -Offers excellent sandwiches on Lyon Bakery bread.
Carnivore BBQ -Serving pulled pork and beef brisket.
Dippin Dots -Serves the famous Dippin Dots ice cream including cookies 'n cream, frappes, shakes and more.

Say CaBi! Be sure to visit the Smilebooth with your friends to commemorate CaBi's birthday with professional quality photos amid bike-party paraphernalia. We'll provide the ridiculous party props, you provide the smile!


Paper Boy Races!

We're going old-school for this race. After reviewing the proper way to wear a bike helmet, you'll be ready to go head to head with other bicyclists to toss newspapers into containers along your paper route. The participant who gets the most accurate newspaper landings wins! Plus, you'll receive a free Capital Bikeshare helmet just for participating.


Slow Bicycle Race hosted by BicycleSpace!

How slow can you go? Bicycle Space invites you to compete to be the slowest bike rider in DC. The slowest person to inch across the finish line without putting down a foot (or falling over) wins! You'll also receive a free Capital Bikeshare helmet just for participating.

Meetup: Lynn and 19th Street Capital Bikeshare Station
Time: Meet at 5pm, roll out at 5:15pm

Crystal City - led by Crystal City BID
Meetup: 18th and Bell Street Capital Bikeshare Station
Time: Meet at 5pm, roll out at 5:15pm

You can ride your own bike or pick up a CaBi bike. The convoys go on an easy and fun route and bike racks and bikeshare corrals are available at the Yards Park. There are no organized convoys for return trips and it will be after dark, so remember to bring bike lights or use Metro or bus.


Don't be in the Dark! We'll Light the Way Home.

BikeArlington will be giving away light sets for anyone that's in need of a little light and while riding their own bike home after the bash.
